Hello everyone.
I went out into the garden in early March and came back in a few days ago (almost true).  The garden is now more good than chaos.

I had to make some art for the theme "Butterflies", chosen by Mia at "Art Journal Journey" and made two pieces.

Have you ever seen a night-flying butterfly?  No, me neither, although there are plenty moths in the night.

The two flowers on the right are looking pretty  worried, don't you think?

The second is a portrait of Millicent who designs and knits her own jumpers.
Happily for this challenge she also has a pet butterfly whose name is Butter.  He comes with her everywhere.

Millicent would be terribly please if you admired her special knitted jumper.
And do look out for night-flying butterflies.

I don't recall looking for butterflies in the early evening or later but i do recall seeing moths. They are always drawn to the light and can be seen hovering around any outdoor light or coming in through an open window when you have a light on.
However, I do like your night time butterfly and so agree that the two flowers on the right have a worried expression.
As for Millicent, well, her pink jumper is beautiful, I would never have thought it was hand knitted, every stitch is so perfect. How lucky she is to have a pet butterfly who travels around with her. he must like her jumper too.
Hugs, Neet xx

Oh Millicent is magnificent. I do like her. And I notice the butterfly on her shoulder. Maybe a night flying one? And Some moths are pretty impressive. So your night flying butterfly could be a beautiful moth, and since they are cousins to butterflies, I can't see why it wouldn't work. But I do like the idea of a night flying butterfly too. Great pages Sheila. Thanks for sharing with us at AJJ for Mia's challenge. I am spending a lot of garden time too. It is a great place to be. I bet you'd agree. Hugs-Erika

Of course there is a night-flying butterfly in Sheila’s world. And a beauty she is too. The butterfly catchers are probably not around at night threatening the freedom of flight. I wonder what the flowers are worrying about. Maybe because of the night time things that roam around and the bite off the blossoms. I know that is what our flowers worry about. How nice to have a peek into the night life and what goes on while I sleep.
Isn’t Millicent a delight! I love her choice of yarn colors for her jumper knitting. She awfully lucky to have her own butterfly pet for constant company. I’ll bet Butter likes to ride in Millicent’s wonderful pink hair. It’s where all the best views can be seen.

Lovely to see this post, it sounds as if you've had a busy time.

I think Millicent looks great and that butterfly on her shoulder is staying very still :)

Enjoy the remainder of June, the year is simply flying by.

All the best Jan

I love your world where butterflies fly at night and sit on shoulders during the day. I love your night flying butterfly. It could only be there because of your incredible imagination, dear Sheila.

It was a delight to meet Millicent and Butter. They are both quite special, too. Thanks for sharing these two wonderful butterfly inspired drawings with us at Art Journal Journey using Mia's theme.

I love all your stories and love the colours in your night flying butterfly, I believe you must be a very good gardener to attract a night flying butterfly as I have heard they are extremely rare indeed.
Millicent is rerrific am loving the colours but especially like the spotty jumper and hairdo. x
