THE YELLOW-WINGED GHOST BIRD

My blogging friend Rike has chosen the theme "The Colour Yellow" at  "Art Journal Journey"  this month.

Yellow is a colour I rarely use.
So this is a real challenge.

Out of curiosity I searched my sketchbooks to see if I actually had used yellow anywhere.
There wasn't much.  I found these two pages in an old sketchbook.

So here we are with a pale yellow and a dancing bird.

The flowers and the Yellow-winged Ghost Bird are bopping along at the Yellow House Rave Party.

And here is a little yellow heart.

I look forward to seeing all the Yellow Art at AJJ this month.
I might even become friends with Yellow by the end of it.

I am sure we all will fall in love with yellow -lol! I love the pages in the sketchbook and those lovely little flowers on their way to the fancy yellow party house! The birdie looks a bit worried but I am sure he will enjoy the big party in the end! And this gorgeous heart art - you already rock the yellow party dear Sheila at the beginning!
Have a great weekend and thank you very much for joining Rike and her yellow topic! Much appreciated my friend!
Big hugs
Susi

i would gladly come to your next yellow house party, but the yellow flower must come, too:) some fine samples, sheila, and i think yellow isn´t really dominant in my art... but will see and go through my new collages to find some. and it is a great choice of color in these grey days we currently have. happy weekend, xox johanna

That yellow winged bird is quite the wild one, isn't she? Going to rave parties and dancing the night away. I love the art today Sheila. Smile. I also wanted to mention to that I enjoy those same sci fi shows you mentioned recently to me. They are fun to watch, aren't they? Hope you are not to cold and that you get to have a nice weekend. Hugs-Erika

oooh you've got me curious now Sheila and I shall have to go and look in my books and see how much yellow I use - especially as I immediately would say yellow isn't a favourite of mine - having had several bad experiences with it over the years. Having said that, sometimes I think it depends on the shade of yellow and shade of whatever colours(s) may be with it.

Your 'Yellow-winged Ghost Bird at the Yellow House Rave Party' - what have you been drinking?? ) made me smile. And atleast there are no neighbours close by to annoy with the music :)

Have a great weekend - hope you're keeping warm and snug on these cold days.

I have come to like yellow quite a bit in recent years. I can’t wear it, but I like it in *things*. Like art. Like your art. Cute little yellow flower...ready for a dance party. Your sketchbook pages are delightfully happy art. “The Return” is really begging for a story...just add a character. The Rave Party is where I want to be! Everybody is dancing, the cute yellow house is sending out party vibes to all over the land, It’s going to be a madhouse when all the others arrive. The yellow heart card is enchanting. I love the great dark and light contrast and sweet framing. I love starting my day with the wonder of your art!

I've noticed the same: yellow seems to avoid my work. Good that you took the challenge!
Yellow house rave! Well, that's a place I'd like to go to with the birdie!

I enjoy your words - I see you searching in your sketchbooks "Where is the colour yellow?" "Have I ever used it?" - and you really found yellow spots! You see.
And you began very softly with a pale yellow-winged dancing bird, pale yellow dancing flower and a more-yellow house in Rave Party ecstasy - I LOVE your party! Very clever you chose a lilac sky and lilac windows, as lilac is the complementary colour of yellow.
And not enough - you also show us a yellow heart in a wonderful abstract picture (and again with lilac spots)!

Thank you so much for your wonderful first entry to my yellow theme at AJJ!
Wish you a happy weekend!
Love, Rike

Fabulous pages and I love the fun yellow winged bird, that could be a super party, but maybe a bit noisy for the neighbours when all the bids rock up to the rave.

Great pages, yellow can be a challenge for sure, but you used it nicely.

Where is Douglas ? He would love the yellow dancing bird. An ingenious creation. Funny how yellow seems to be an emotive colour, people seem to hate it or love it more than other colours. Love it, Awesome !!

Oh Sheila your image with the cute yellow winged bird is so gorgeous. Funny to imagine that he is on his way to the yellow house to enjoy a Rave-Party. The small image with the yellow heart looks also very nice, could be a nice card isn't it?
Wish you a happy and creative February.

I adore your darling yellow winged bird and the yellow house and flower in the yard. Your yellow heart is SO YOU. Like you, I'm not a fan of yellow but I might be by the end of the month. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey.

Ah, I remember the goast-bird... he's so nice!
It's true, you don't use a lot of certain colours in your own work. With me mostly the red and violet are missing, then I try to use it with intention more often. So I make friends with these colours and am often surprised.
Best regards Ulrike

Such pretty artworks! Yellow is such a happy colour, isn't it 😁. Your flowers and birds bopping at the house rave made me smile, I can just imagine the house pulsating to the music with those arrows coming out of the roof ...lol 😉. I hope you have had a lovely week and wishing you a Happy February! J 😊 x

I enjoyed seeing your yellow winged bird and your heart.
Our grand-daughter visited over the weekend and she drew a lovely picture of flowers in a vase, and there were pink ones (because she knows that's my favourite colour) and yellow ones and purple ones … very colourful, I love it :)

Stay warm in this cooler weather.

All the best Jan

I really like your two yellow pages - they're really vibrant and it's good to see the pieces they inspired. The yellow house rave party looks fun!
I don't tend to use a lot of yellow, but find it can help to lift a dull page. It's also useful to mix with blue or red to create more colours. Jx
