IS IT A DUCK?

I've always been amused by this quote -
"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck".

Gill at "Art Journal Journey" has a really good theme "Inspired by.....anything" so here is my painting inspired by this quote.

I started by making a drawing 12 x 8 inches (30 x 20 cms).
I was going to paint it in watercolours but then tried something different

which was colour filling with Photo-shop.

I had a next idea which was to fill with pattern.
All these infill patterns are my own original designs derived from my own paintings.

The last two fill-ins on the left took ages to choose.  I tried loads of patterns and colours.
Do you like the two pink creatures watching?

Finally, the final result.

So what do you think?
Is it a duck?

With Sheila art it might not be a duck. But it does look similar to a duck. A new pink variety. What a wildly super transformation your drawing turned into! Fabulous fill-ins for a homey feel for your sweet critters. It’s obvious they are at home with their surroundings. This art piece is a delight!

Oh I do think it is a duck, but a movie star duck with all those camera flashbulbs (I know, who uses flashbulbs), but this duck is back in the flashbulb day. Anyhow, she is getting heer photo take by all those paparazzi. :) Hope all is well and you have a great start to the month of June. Hugs-Erika

If it walks like a duck . . . .

It's an adorable painting, and you treated it with such adorable fun. It's so like you to turn a simple image into a genuine work of digital art. I think it's an enchanting painting. I am so happy you chose this as your first entry this month for Art Journal Journey. I look for more soon, dear Sheila.

It looks like an art blog, it swims like an art blog, it quacks like something unbelievable, and is coloured like an art blog, the it is probably an extremely brilliant art blog. Love it, Awesome !!

If you say it's a duck, then it is a duck :D

Color filling is so meditative, don't you agree! I love those acid patterns, reminds me of the 60's :D Pink is the perfect color for your birdie, it draws the attention right away. Also turquoise and pale green does the same.

We've had the warmest May ever here in Finland. No rain and temperature has risen above +25 for a couple of weeks. Everything is in blossom at the same time, so beautiful, but animals are suffering from thirst, hedgehogs etc. People have put water bowls in the woods.

Have an inspirational weekend, Sheila!

Whatever it is - it looks AMAZING! I love your photoshop filled patterned painting - it is just AWESOME dear Sheila and I can tell you that you take to photoshop and production of patterns and free drawing like a "duck" to water!
Great to see this fabulous piece linked to Gill's new theme! I so hope to see you more often this month if you can manage to gift some free art time to us.
Hugs and a happy weekend my friend!

ha ha I love what Susi said about 'duck to water' as I wss just admiring how you filled the shapes with the colours and pattern - you make it look so easy (and I don't think it is).
And I just love how your mind works so as soon as I saw the quote that inspired you I was dying to see what came next :)
ahhh ha it's brilliant Sheila - the final 'shot' made me think of 'The Truman' show because right at the top in the shadow I can see 2 chins and necks and it looks like 'humans' watching the magical fanstasy world you have created. And it also fits to what Erika said about the 'movie star' etc and of course movie stars and 'ducks' love to wear pink don't they?
The little pink creatures might be behind the scenes crew making sure all the hidden cameras etc are working and not discovered :)
Thanks for joining in with AJJ Sheila and starting my day off with a smile.
Hope you have a lovely weekend... Gill xx

I LOVE this quote!
These green little one and the bigger green one on the right side are no ducks, because they have 4 legs.
But this pink one - we only see the head - IS a duck, probably.
These infill patterns are gorgeous and you found the exactly fitting patterns for the left side too!
Yes, I like the two pink creatures watching - so lovely! And it's a secret: They are the real ducks!
The final result is great - because of the use of black paint, it gives much contrast!
Wish you a happy weekend!
Love, Rike

That's great, Sheila!! I love it!
How very clever and beautiful to "fill" in your own patterns and designs.
Of course I like this little creatures watching from the bottom. But I wonder
why the bird is looking at them so very sceptically (I'm not sure if this is an English word, but you will understand).

And no, it's no duck anyway how much it swims or quacks like a duck...
Have a wonderful weekend.

Wow, here you have created a really crazy and funny picture, in a completely new, individual mixed-media-technique! It looks like a lot of fun to put together, it reminds me a little of comics!
The little pink creatures should definitely get a speech bubble...
Have a good week - Ulrike

It's a pink duck in a psychedelic environment! but the question becomes "does it quack?" made me smile, as my daughter and her friends used to ask each other this(in high school no less)...an inside joke I guess. Sometimes silly is the best fun!

It’s definitely a duck, from its colour I can see it lives forever in your very colourful garden. Your choice of colour is so different from mine, perhaps that is why I love your artwork so much.
