I've just seen a calendar and it says it's the 15th of January already.  That can't be right, can it?

At "Art Journal Journey" the fabulous Erika has chosen the theme "New Year, New Adventures".   For the first time in weeks I made something that was not related to art for or helping to organise the exhibition, so that was a pretty big adventure.

Happily "Moo-Mania" is asking for art on the theme "Frosty Winter", a lovely theme as snow is forecast for the next few days.

Here is the cover of my Winter Journal

and here are some abstract paintings I had fun making on the frosty theme.
All are made with oil pastels and watercolours.

I call this series "Winter Windows".

Little Snow Tree

Frosty Window

Ski run

The blue lake in the mountains

Happy January!

Oh, you got a new winter journal! How great looks the cover in these icy colours and the window pictures I also like very much! I am thinking of ice crystals that used to make windows opaque in ealier times. But there hasn't been such cold winters for a long time.
Have a good week - Ulrike

I LOVE those abstract frosty pieces Sheila. They do look frosty. And very artsy too. At least compared to my silly doodles they look very artsy. You really caught the feel of the ice and frost on a glass. We are back in the cold so the frost looks just like my windows. Hope you get your snow (or not if you don't want it) and thank you so much for joining in on some new adventures here at AJJ. Hugs-Erika

Happy January! Your winter journal cover is amazing, I love how you have created such beautiful frost patterns with the paints 😁. Winter Windows is such a lovely term for your frosty abstract artworks too, which are all fabulous! The crevasse and blue lake in the mountains are the ones that caught my eye 😉. It looks like you had fun creating them all and I hope all the preparations for your exhibition are going well. Wishing you a happy new week! J 😊

OMGosh. I simply adore those abstracts. They are wonderful. If only I could come up with abstracts as creative, I'd be a happy camper. I also adore the cover to your Winter journal. It is beyond beautiful. I can't believe you created these beauties using oil pastels and watercolors. You are a genius. Thanks, too for sharing these with us at Art Journal Journey.

Glad to see you had some 'you time' for a change :)
Cool post Sheila in more ways than one! Your journal cover is great - I wonder do you have a journal for each season? ( or maybe not with our weird British weather when it could be a summer day and then back to winter the following one).
Love all your 'winter windows' pieces - great textures that certainly captured winter and has an icy feel ...brrrrrr ....brrrrilliant!
Hope its not too snowy up at your end of the world and no wind damage from last night/today.

Oh! Look at these! I do get a frosty feel. Especially from the frosty window and the ski run. I just love the little snow tree. They all have a wonderfully snowy, frosty feeling. You know I absolutely love this painting technique you use with the frizzy edges of the paints. I like the paintings on your journal cover too. This journal is such an enjoyable way to live through and remember this winter.

What a fabulous cover for a winter journal - your painting is so expressive.
It is is turning cold here again - such a shame as all the bulbs are starting to appear.
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I have really enjoyed catching up. Jx
