MAKING CARDS

I make a lot of cards but usually only one or two of each design as the latest painting or design often seems to be more interesting somehow.
Last week there was a birthday card due, and as none of the current batch of card designs seemed suitable it was a good excuse to sit down and make some new ones.

This was created (using photo-editing) from a combination of two paintings.

The next could be suitable for a gardener.  It's from a journal page, made with watercolours and collaged painted papers.

And this one might be appropriate for someone who is moving to a new house or village (and wants to grow large flowers, haha!).
It's painted with oil pastels and watercolours.

I wonder which one you would most like to receive?

Of course, the ones I have are the best ones! They are in hand and admired often. Your cards are so unique and artsy and bring such joy with them. Really they do! These new ones are wonderful! I love them all. I just love your painting and ideas and editing. But the impact your cards bring to your written words and greetings is unprecedented!

These are gorgeous cards, my favorite ones are the last two. Colors and subject...
I'm curious, so, these are your paintings and then you take photos and have them printed somewhere?

I LOVE them all. Seeing the polka dots on the dress of your symbol makes me think I need to put some into my little dresses. I really like your flower cards, but the houses have to be my favorites. I am in the middle of sketching out a little page in my journal with all kinds of houses. I also was somewhere where one of the girls had created and painted a 1” X 1” boxed calendar for April. I loved it so much that I have started me one for May, and I am having a ball. I know the little boxes are tiny, but I ordered a 000 brush from Winsor and Newton, and it is saving my life. I think I’m gonna order a 00 and a 0 from them now. You all have been such an inspiration to me, and have gotten me to try things never in my lifetime did I think I would try...and even post them. That is a miracle. Again, thank you over and over again for all of your support...and thanks for the info on the pens. Happy Mom’s Day. XOXOXOXO

They all look fantastic, it would be hard to choose one, but I would have to say the last one with the happy houses.

My very favourite one is the first one...even though I'm not a huge fan of brown...I LOVE this one so much...the tone of brown is gorgeous as is the orange flower and flecks of orange! I love how it's laid out too!! All the cards are wonderful and normally I'd pick the houses and more jewel tones...but for some reason I am so drawn to the first one!! In the late seventies I had chocolate brown decor that I loved....so I think much like yellow some years I am in love with it, others I'm not! Awesome post! Love your wonderfully unique cards!

These are fabulous, I've been going up and down and think I'd love the second card best, at least that's what I preferred when I saw these this afternoon, but this evening I think I might like the first best, it really depends on my mood and time of day. The third is also very lovely, reminding me of an old painting I did many years ago with the trees all in between the houses. All three flow and have a lovely soft feel, I love them all!

Karin said...

They all look beautiful, so it's a difficult choice, but I think I like the second one the most!

You are so good in art making with photo shop. Each time I see your artwork it's always such a wonderful surprise! I love all the cards and I think it depends on the individual mood of the day as the first one spreads warmth and safety to me while the second one seems to give me some hope and the third one makes me feel cheerful and in love with life. I really love your art so much!

I love them all, Sheila and I am sure that any person would be very happy to receive any one of these beautiful creations! Thanks also for your wonderful visit to my blog! HUGS!

Oh, I thought to have written to that.... No doubt I would like to get the first one although I like all of them. The first looks like a window of a church, a wonderful church window. Ok I don't know a window like that but there should be one, at least one :)

All of your cards are so pretty, Sheila, and my favorite is the second one.
Lovely designs as always!

I love your cards, Sheila, and it would be really hard to choose a favourite. They all look so good and will suit different occasions. I like the autumnal colours of the first, but the cheerful colours of the third and I really like those big flowers in the second ... Jx

The Happy Whisk said...

It's a toss up between the first and the second. But they are all lovely.

rike said...

My favourite is the third card with the houses. I like the designs and colors of all cards, but the third most, because of using oil pastels and watercolor in one picture.
