JUST A LITTLE BIRD

Following on from a previous blogpost here, I'm on the trail of minimalist watercolour art.

The features I was trying for were
- white space
- a minimalist design (whatever that is)
- some text
- a border
- and no photo-editing.

What you see above is the original.  It's 6 x 4 inches, postcard size.

But sorry folks, I just had to try a tiny bit of photo-editing for fun - and I liked it, so you might like it too.

I just love these dark colours.

Which one do you prefer?

Oh, I might be first comment if I think and type fast! LoL. I love how little bird has his eye on that flower. Is he going to get it for his sweetie? Fabulous border! I would never think of doing a border that way. And perfect with stripes. I like both paintings of course but I'm always drawn to your magic with editing. I do like those dark colors too.

I prefer the dark one:)
Your little bird seems to be deep in thought.

Sheila...YOu are so talented. I love the minimalist style you are using with your watercolors. Less is always more...even in art. Everything about the picture is appealing to the eye. I really like it. I even like the transformed one, too.

I think that they are both quite charming.
You get to explore your creativity in two different ways. Fun fun.

I prefer the original Sheila! It's just lovely and I like the delicate fineliner you used here...
A very pretty card is this! It's interesting how much more perky the little bird looks in the night / version to me.... stunning - different colours make so much difference!

Happy weekend dear Sheila!

I prefer the white space, I guess I am very minimalist. Nice work!

You do minimal so well Sheila (I imagine that in your home life too!)
Both creations are lovely.
I am drawn to the richness of your PS piece.
In the world of filters there are so many possibilities it creates a lot of choices doesn't it.
Happy beginning of the weekend to you oxo

Delightful, either way. I also like your cute stripey border. Happy PPF

But this is a very difficult question - I can not decide. The flower is beautiful in the original, because I love blue; but the bird colors shine in the image much more intense. i love the friendly graphical frame in this painting!Ulrike

What a sweet creation! Of course I do love birds and flowers:) I admire the way you can do minimal-that is SO hard for me. Both versions are great-but the second one is very striking. Happy PPF!

The both look great, I am drawn to the altered colours on the second one, but realy they both are wonderful minimalist pieces.

Both are so lovely and full of sweetness. The first is during the day and the second at night. The colours stand out beautifully against the black, very striking but still the original is so sweet and innocent that I can't help loving that as much too!

Both have interesting features but I like the original best! But best of all is that fantastic header art!

I like having lots of white around my watercolours so that they pop... love seeing you extend yourself

I think I like the dark one better, but they are both some much fun. I am not a big white space person, and when try to leave white space I really have to force myself not to color in the space! Hugs!

So pretty! The dark one is my fave--such interesting and moody colors. Love! xo

It's like asking me to choose between Bleubeard and Squiggles. I like both pictures, but for different reasons. I like the original for its clever design and white space. I like the second one for the dark and moody colors. They would both have a place in MY heart!
