A STRANGE BIRD FLIES OVER THE FOREST BY NIGHT

The theme at "Art Journal Journey" this month is "Deep in the Forest".

We have had many magnificent entries and you can see them on the Pinterest board here.

This strange bird has been flying in my sketchbook since the beginning of the challenge and today he demanded to be painted.

It's painted with Sennelier oil pastels and textile dyes.
It's a seriously fun technique when it works.

It measures 11 x 17 inches, quite large for me.

I'm also linking to "Paint Party Friday".

Strange birdie may be strange, but he's a beauty too! He should fly more in the day time to show off his beauty. And it's such an enchanted forest too. This is a great theme for creative imagination.

What a happy cheery painting. I love how the pastels resist the dyes, or at least it looks like that. Makes the painting so much lighter than heavy acrylics. I'd hang that in my living room because it makes me smile and feel good.

What lovely work. I don't know how you do it. Anyone who can use pastels to create artwork is a genius. Your artwork is so nicely whimsical.
