What makes a village?

The village houses

But a house is not a home without people.

This family has three boys and three girls.
The mother and father and the three little boys are at home just now and have come to the door to say hello.

A village family

And here are the three girls, off on a shopping trip.  They are very excited.

The three girls

You may have noticed a few things about the people of this village.

The adult ladies have floating heads.  This can be quite useful.
The adults, boys and girls each have different head decorations, but always in threes.
The flowers can grow to an enormous size, taller than the houses.
The people are very happy, welcoming and colourful.

Still to come:
The village cat
The village flowers
The village trees
The Baron who lives on the hill.

These paintings were made with oil pastels and watercolours.

I was inspired to make "The Village" by two of my favourite art challenges, "Art Journal Journey", theme "Houses" and "Mix it Monthly", theme "Home".
Also linking to "Paint Party Friday".

I love how your paints react and interact. And the colors are really awesome. I immediately thought of our old TV show, The Brady Bunch. A man with 3 boys marries a woman with 3 girls. And here they all are painted into fantasy. I love the useful floating head! :-)
