THE DUCK WHO DIDN'T LIKE TO GET HIS FEET WET

"Summer of Color"  Week One was terrific fun.
I visited lots of new blogs, saw some marvellous artwork and found some new blogging friends.

This week the colours to use are coral and teal with bright white.

As for last week I drew the picture with a black pen and coloured with Photoshop, using different shades of these colours.  This is a fairly new technique with me, and I find the results interesting.   I now think it would take about the same time to colour with watercolours, but this way gives a different and graphic result.

So here is....

THE DUCK WHO DIDN'T LIKE TO GET HIS FEET WET

I'm looking forward to visiting the other entries during the week.

Again, this was great fun to make.
Being colour restricted focuses the mind on the design.

I'm also linking to "Art Journal Journey" whose theme this month is "Houses" and "Mix it Monthly" whose theme is "Home".

Really interesting artwork. It differs from your earlier works a lot. The house is fun because it looks like it expresses its feelings ;) Great new style, Sheila.

Hello my friend, more fun and delightful art your way. This has style and design, you've used the colours so well and isn't it great how with this new challenge new things pop up in our art, different ways of doing things. I love your duck that doesn't like to get wet, another winner Sheila!

Oh gosh Sheila this is just ADORABLE!
What a great technique to draw the picture in black pen and after scanning color it.. fabulous...
oh yes - my daughter even has a very good digital drawingboard.. but I am to lazy to explore it - the same with photoshop or photoshop elements...I am such a lazy person..lol!

I can understand your little duck so well ... the water seems to be very cold and very wet...brrr....
Thank you for sharing this lovely piece with us at AJJ !

This is not just fun, but also funny. I really enjoyed your little duck and I can certainly understand his apathy.

I've had Photoshop for more years than I care to remember, and I don't think I could do what you did. And if I could, it would never look as good as your entry. Very creative and fun to look at, too.

My word, you're quick out of the blocks! Bravo on another fabulous entry. I'm delighted that you are a new follower of my new blog. So happy to play alongside you and visit when we can. Now I really need to get my thinking cap on, that's 24hours out already and nothing springs to mind. No more boats for me tho', Lol :D

Well, first I love the title and the concept of a duck who doesn't like to get his feet wet. Your drawing is charming. Isn't it fun to change colors in Photoshop to see how they work together? ---or not.

Every week, I create an abstract design from one or more photos (trying to do something different with my design each week) and then I take that design and change the colors, and make other changes, for my Summer of Color post.

It's ok to keep your feet dry if you can provide yourself with such a wonderful house on the water! This is so adorable! And wonderfully balanced for my even steven brain. lol I love how you add shades of the given colors. I tried to follow the "spun" picture with the original but couldn't do it. So fascinating how that works.

Marvelous duck. My ducks are always in the water and messing about in the mud, never as cute and clean as this fellow or gal. xox

I love using contrasting colors, so that coral and teal color combination really appeals to me. The colors worked beautifully in your beach scene, which is very sweet and peaceful. Blessings!

who could come up with a title like that if not you? incredible idea. and i like the color choice of the challenge, you made fantastic artwork with it!

What a quirky theme, love how you have done it. BJ

Gerda S. said...

That would be a great postcard!
The shading of the water is an outstanding success. The house seems to wonder about the duck. The house and the platform with the flower pots look very symmetrical.
Only use the default colors, is certainly a challenge. You have solved wonderful.
love, Gerda

I love your duck especially as he is not swayed by the crowd, a highly individual duck, a bit like this entry. Highly individual and different. I think it's one of your best. x

What a dinky little house, Sheila, with its beautiful hanging ornaments, autumns leaves and colourful leaves, I love it! The shading of the waves is so good, but the star of it all (apart from you!), is the cheery little duck on the roof, keeping his feet dry! Hugs, Fodie Ann X

Sheila, how beautiful. I love the varying colors of teal. So pretty. And the humor of the duck not wanting to get its feet wet makes me smile. Thanks for making it to my last week's post even though the link I put in today's post did not work. I have just corrected that.
