A NEW CAT

Have you ever passed one of the Cat Rescue places where they advertise cats who are looking for a new home by showing pictures of each cat in the window?  It can be heart-rending.

"Fluffy would like a quiet home with older people as she doesn't like noise",
"Timpsy would like a comfortable house without children",
"Mopsy likes to have regular meals and a pure wool blanket in her basket"
and so on.

This card is for all those kind people for whom getting a rescue cat is cause for a celebration.

I'm linking to "Order of the Opus Gluei" where they are asking us to make something in black and white with one other colour,
to "Soartful" where the theme is "June Celebrations!  Black and white"
and to "Paint Party Friday" .

What a lovely idea for a card. I volunteer at an animal rescue and have just adopted my 2nd cat from there & we've just adopted a springer puppy to join the pack with our other 2 dogs! ! It's a dangerous place for me to be as I want to bring them all home!

Oh Sheila, I love all your cats! There is a purity in black line drawings, and the green eyes just focus our eyes on the cats' eyes. I do like how you have given the four bottom cats such different eyes! Have a good weekend. Fodie Ann x

As someone who's never had anything else but rescue cats I thank you. And the idea of 'good luck with it' is remarkably accurate. It's taken nearly a year for out latest (Luna) to settle in without violence. It's been tough, but we're finally a happy family again.

Oh, I love this striped kittycat! You've made its fur look so wonderful I want to reach in and give it a little scratch and rub. Your use of one color for the other cat's eyes is a delightful discovery!

Great cat art, Sheila! I know about those ads. I even see them on TV. Heart-rending is the right word. Since I am really a dog person, I feel like running out and adopting dogs when I see those ads.

I Love twofers, or three-fers, etc. Sometimes it take a bit of ingenuity to make your art fit the top for several challenges, but it is challenging! Good job.

Well that's just showing off!! Your card really IS just black and white and one other colour....LOVE it. You had me from the beginning with that cat - I live with two. Correction, two cats let me live here with them! Great card and thank you for joining us at Opus Gluei.

Your card is so sweet - I know what you mean - my heart breaks when I see animals in cages waiting for homes.

Hello Sheila you have got it exactly right in that new cats do cause everything to go array, you have captured this perfectly, especially the expressions and the topsy turviness of the scene

What a great pic! I do remember the havoc when we first got our cat - she was a rescue cat too....but still a kitten. She would drive me crazy at the computer..jumping on my keyboard and at christmas time playing with the christmas tree decorations.
I like your expressive line too.

Wonderful use of black and white with that perfect pop of green for the kitty kats eyes...
the "welcoming" committee of cats at the bottom looks they can hardly wait to "welcome" the newest cat on the block :-)

I love that black and white moggy of yours so much. But I wouldn't trust him for a minute, he looks like trouble and I wouldn't trust him for a minute. And if he thinks he's going to stare me down with those glaring eyes it's going to be a battle.
Thank goodness the kitties inherited their mother's genes.

Linda Gibbons said...

These kitties sure look like trouble! Love those brilliant eyes.

As the proud owner of now four (yes, four) cats, my husband is so patient, I laughed my ample behind off at this. Indeed, it can be a mixed blessing but it all works out and I love your sense of humor with this and the restrained colors. Look out lamp! and rugs, and sofa, and so on. Thank you for taking the time to consider our Opus Gluei challenge and then share your humor and creativity with us!
