BALLERINA

The monthly challenge "Soartful" is asking us to make art on the theme "Dressforms".

I initially, and for some time, found this theme to be impossibly difficult but the impossible became possible when this emerged from the wreckage of my previous attempts.

The Ballerina is just over 9 inches in height and was painted with watercolour pens, metallic pens and Inktense pencils.
The background was painted with oil pastels and water based inks and was converted to monochrome with Photo-editing.
The whole painting was then put through several Photo-editing effects.

If you enjoy a challenge or Dressforms inspire you, do go over to Soartful and have a look at what other artists have made for the theme, and maybe make Dressform art yourself?

YES! I LOVE this piece! And that it came from the "wreckage"...that cracks me up! Miss Ballerina is wonderfully whimsical, magical and sweet fantasy. It's a fantastical twinkly background too. All of my senses are doing a happy dance with her.

I've had difficulty with this theme, but I think there are stirrings in my mind. It's interesting to read about all your different processes, and I love the combination of paper art with digital, it add so much to an idea and an image. Lovely dress and dress form.

I love the contrast with the lovely colours in the skirt and toes and the background, quite different from your usual vibrant style but carried off with an exquisite style.

If you will ever be out of work, please do me a favour and apply for a job as a designer. You would make the world so much brighter, dear Sheila!

Wowness Sheila...this is bewildering and carries such visual impact for me! I love the colorful-striations in the dress against the backdrop of inky-magic and charcoal textures...the backdrop looks like earth crystals and layers of them..spectacular..even the dress looks like the layers of a crystal-geodes (or inner layers!)Fantastical!
