THE FLOWER TAKES CENTRE STAGE

The inspiration for this piece came from two directions.

The theme for "Art Journal Journey" this month is "Squares".
I've already made one for this excellent theme but wanted to make another before the theme expired at the end of the month.

The "Three Muses" challenge this week has a theme of "Artist Affirmation".
I'm a bit nervous of declaring an Artist Affirmation but the expansion of the theme said this
"Create a picture that shows your own style - perhaps a favourite of yours, something you are especially proud of.  Add a word or a quotation to the picture.  This can be any style, any theme".

Now who could resist that?

I cut three squares, each containing some text, (above and below) from my own paintings, with the thought of maybe making a paper quilt from a variety of squares.

Then I thought - what if I cut out pieces which are not squares?

I cut a small slice from two more paintings and joined them together, just to see what happened

and started to like this idea very much.

Other interests are gardening and photography, so a little flower from the garden was persuaded to pose.

And during the course of an evening, this eventually came together.

I hope you enjoyed my little artistic journey.

The Three Muses ask "what is my Artist Affirmation?".
Answer: I am an artist who loves to play with patterns and colour.

"Collage Obsession" has relaunched on September 25th 2014 and has asked us to link to an old favourite collage blogpost.

A majestic result is what my view is of your final piece. Love the design and the color! You make the most wonderful squiggle designs from words! That's my favorite altered part to look at.

A paper quilt from your painted squares...oh, I love that idea!

Love this - it's like a little garden shrine - or an oasis in the desert (they kind of look like palm trees either side). Fab!

Stunning pieces of art work, I especially like the second last piece. Very clever techniques clearly evidenced, again an outstanding work of art which is very pleasing to the eye.

But on having another look I think I like the last piece the best with the little butterflies and glowing flower
