UNDERWATER FLORA AND FAUNA

Can you have underwater flora and fauna?

If so, then this is my entry for Jo's great theme "Flora and Fauna" at "Art Journal Journey", the great challenge site which gives us a new theme to inspire us every single month.

Here is my original painting, made with watercolours and a little stamping

and here it is underwater.
I think the flora is at the top and the fauna, strange underwater creatures, are below.
Did you know that colours change under water?

And nearby there is a starfish and her friends.

Isn't it great that we can have and keep our original painting and also change and enhance it with photo-editing.

I'm also linking to "Moo-Mania" where the theme is "Flowers".

  1. Wow, what an amazing painting and digital enhancements! Yes it could be Marine or Freshwater Flora and Fauna, and I love to go snorkeling so your amazing starfish reminds me of the happy hours I have spent looking at the different marine life. Your original painting captures my imagination as well, are those three fluffy bunny rabbit tails peeking out from the grasses at the bottom of the page? Maybe they are watching the pretty flowers swaying in the sunshine ...lol πŸ˜‰. Then as I look at the underwater scene I'm transported back to the ocean as they change to sea urchins ...lol πŸ˜‰. What a wonderful post, thanks so much for the inspiration and joining in the fun at Art Journal Journey! J 😊 x

  3. Of course you can have underwater flora and fauna. Yours is so amazing, vibrant, bold, and exciting, and I am simply in love with both entries, including the digital enhancements you chose. This is a really lovely first entry for your May Art Journal Journey pages. I'm sure we'll see more because this theme seems to fit you perfectly, dear Sheila.

  4. You can have underwater flora and fauna. That is a fact! I love both of these pieces Sheila. The bottom one looks like a giant seastar to me. Really really cool! This is a great post and very clever too. Maybe you feel that little peak under water because no painters could see you there. Hee-hee. Hugs-Erika

So happy you have time for art Sheila! I don't have any time just now as my brother is with us and I enjoy every minute with him, so no much time for internet or art.But family is so much more important - I really enjoy it!

  19. WOW. Yes, it is amazing how an original painting takes on a whole new look and atmosphere with photo editing. It always amazes me. I love this one in both forms. On the shoreline in the bright sun and deep down in the dark sea underworld. Your imagination is boundless and always so inspiring. Ooooo...fuzzy edges! Definitely a watery look.

  26. oh... I thought I'd commented on this before - sorry Sheila. I bet it was Daves fault - he's always distracting me and I remember repeating your question about can you have under water flora and fauna and Dave said of course :)
Fabulous pieces (of course!!!) and they look like they are painted on silk to me.
Love your digital enhancements but its these things that are filling up my PC space and hard to stop making and deleting ha ha
