THE CAT IN THE GARDEN

We made a Zen garden!
It's got a river and "sculptures" and plants.

The fox came in the evening and scattered some pieces, obviously not artistically satisfied with the arrangement.

I'm also currently fascinated with the process of painting with the mouse.
It creates a minimalist quality which appeals and I love the flatness and strangeness of the colours, and the erratic lines.

Is the cat dreaming of a Cat-Tail garden?

And continuing with 100 days of abstract gardens, painting with splashy watercolours.

Linking to the challenge at "Art Journal Journey" where Yvonne is asking us what is in our actual or imaginary garden.
Thanks to Yvonne,  for a great theme.

  1. Your zen garden looks great, looks like a lot of hard work - wonder why Mr Fox didn't like it? Lovely water colour project, too, thanks for joining us at AJJ, hugs, Vaerie

  2. Love your zen garden. Did it improve when the fox moved the pieces? And love your 2 abstract pieces today too. You've caught the colors and details which makes cats and flowers so interesting. I think a cat might like a cat tail garden. Good for hunting. :) Hugs-Erika

  3. Lovely zen garden. I wouldn't even try as paws would immediately mess it up, although we do have a pebble landscape just outside the back door. Cute cat and a perfect tail. Splashy watercolor is right, love the raw exuberance. xox

  4. Definitely a zen cat to keep boxy company. The dreaming cat is very zen like, the opposite of the splashy watercolours. All tremendous stuff. Love it, Awesome !!

  5. That's a beautiful zen garden. Too bad the fox had to rearrange it. But the cat-tails had me laughing and that was just exactly what I needed right now.

This time I agree that these are abstract flowers, because I've not seen any like those before, although they look a bit like Bird Of Paradise. Thanks for putting a much needed smile on my face today.

  10. Zeeeennnnnnnn...I feel it! What fun it must have been putting that together and now enjoying it. What is that tree in the background? What a great trunk/branches! Also a fun time for the mouse to draw a cat. Now the car wants your drawing mouse. LoL. A garden kitty lives in too. And the watercolor garden...I see a summer storm coming in. Powerful art today!

  13. Your mouse-image is so funny again - I believe that I should try it once ... But much better I like your flowers watercolor painting. Here it seems, as if at any moment a thunderstorm will happen ... I see dark clouds above the flowers.
... And how exciting, you have a fox very close .. he likes your Zen garden so well!

you made me giggle over the cat tail garden, so fun and creative of you and a cute piece.

I was just thinking that you might be learning about watercolors with your 100 days project. As well as making colorful garden art.

  19. How lovely to see Boxy and your wonderful zen garden again! You know that I like it very much. I think there are some new plants and rocks, right? And was really a fox in your garden???
Your dreaming mouse pad cat is fun and the black background is very untypical for you, isn't it? It looks great.
And I love your splashy watercolour painting! The flowers at the bottom seem to laugh. Thats what I thought first but now go backing to them they seem to make grrr.
Perhaps because I'm so late with my comment...

I really enjoy their minimalist and simple quality, yet they still strike and so please the eye! As for that abstract garden, wow what an explosion, free and gorgeous, a wonderful post!

  25. Your Zen garden, with the river running through it, is a winner as is your drawing with the mouse. I still have one of those pencil and pad things that I bought yonks ago, so I must dig it out and have a go. Your watercolour is worthy of framing and having a place on the wall! One interpretation --- a log with exotic plants sprouting from it that are reaching up into the multi-coloured sky?
