THE ABSTRACT GARDEN BEGINS

Over at Instagram, many artists are making art for the 100 days challenge.

While I am not a fan of making something every day (I often do not have an every day or even an every half hour) nevertheless something there appeals to me.

So I am embarking on "100 days of garden abstracts".

Each of these paintings was inspired by a flower in my garden and was painted with deliciously splashy watercolours.

The 100 days will not be consecutive, and I may not finish till I am well over 100 years old if then, who knows?  And I will be making other paintings in between.

These three paintings also fit very well with the current challenge at "Art Journal Journey" where Yvonne is asking us what is in our actual or imaginary garden.

Also linking to "Paint Party Friday".

  5. Adore these Sheila. They remind me of how my garden often looks, especially now when it is full of weeds. So I enjoy it from far away and it is all an abstract of colors and shades and very pretty. Nice. Hugs-Erika

  13. Oh WOW!, won't these be fun to watch! I love your own personal rule of simply 100 days in lieu of 100 consecutive days. That seems even manageable. With your beautiful garden as inspiration, you'll be done before you know it. These starting pieces are beauties. Flowers and plant life love water, so no surprise they love watercolor too. Your vibrant paintings bring your paper garden to life. What beauties to behold after so many dry hot days here in California. Now all I need is a comfy outdoor seat and cool drink to joy your garden for 100 days.

How beautiful are your watercolorflowers in this expressive colors, especially the last image in orange-blue looks fantastic, like fireworks!
But the flowers in the middle also light wonderfully.

  17. Oh I love these colours melting into one another, the flow, spontaneity and sheer freedom of these beautiful abstract flowers make me smile, so refreshing. Each one captures me in its own way, but my favourites are the first and third ones, or maybe not, I think I love them all, each has its own special beauty and peace! They each seem to burst with the force of nature, that's what's so fabulous, they are favourites and so relaxing and soothing for the eyes!

  27. I'm back online just in time to see these splashes of beauty that really LOOK like real flowers to me. I thought the 61 days of ICADs was hard. 100 paintings in 100 days would have me climbing the walls. One thing about your abstracts is they are all identifiable flowers. Your splashes of goodness make me smile and your concern that you may be over 100 when you finish these also made me smile. LOVE your art and LOVE your humor.
