FLYING FISH HAVE THREE LEGS

Conny at the fun art challenge "Mix it Monthly" is asking us to "Play with Fishes" using much orange paint and drops or drips.
I'm also linking to "Paint Party Friday".

This is how it started.

Not thinking of anything in particular, just thinking about fish.
In front of the computer.
Just me and the mouse and the screen and the simplest tool in Photoshop, the paintbrush.

Have you ever tried to draw fishes with the mouse?

And this is where it finished.

OK, I quite like it.

It got me thinking a little.
About why we create art and why we blog.

I create art because I enjoy it.  I enjoy playing with colours and creating imaginary worlds.
I don't want to sell it, I don't even need to display it on my walls.

I blog because I have found an on-line community who understands.
And when I put my art on the blog, I hope it gives you a smile.

Or even a laugh, when you look at my fishes.

  3. Your fish are adorable and so fun!

My thoughts about art and blogging are very similar to yours. I love to create, love to blog, and through blogging I've met (also IRL) so many beautiful people, who've become my friends.

I have a laptop, so I always draw digitally with my forefinger!!

  4. My Smile you get always, whenever I see your original characters!
I like your fantasy, because it is so special!
Your PC creation is again very funny ... oh yes, it is difficult to paint with the mouse, it will always be a child's drawing, when I try it. Ulrike

  5. It does make me smile. I love your flying fish. They are fun, and in this life, any time you can see something fun, that makes you smile, that is a GOOD thing. I like to blog too. I love all the great people you meet, all the support they give back, and to record things for own future reference too. And I love reading people's blogs too. Have a great weekend Sheila.Hugs-Erika

  6. Everybody knows fish have three legs. How could they have any other number? They couldn't fly otherwise. Its fun being creative, isn't it. Love it, Awesome !!

  7. I wonder if those fish taste good fried....Fun work today, I must see if I can spot one of them in the Rhine or flying over it, perhaps playing with the gulls. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

  8. Hahaha...your art always brings a smile from me. You take me into a magical world that my brain can't even fathom. **I love limmelon's reasoning**. Your fun aquatic life bring joy to the senses! I draw lousy with a pencil, so using a mouse would no doubt bring forth some nightmares. I create art because it's a happy place for me. I came into blogland for the creative inspiration and found so much more than that! Next time I'm visiting a waterway, I'll have an eye out for your sea life!

  10. And YES it gives a big smile on my face, Sheila! So in love with the sweet turquoise fishes who can fly! Yes of course if they can fly they need a good buffer for landing and three are more than two legs, haha! But what is that on the left side? Is this the house of the flying acrobats? Better they stay up in the air, because crazy cat is walking around always hungry (she has six legs to feed ;) I so love your fantastic paintings! They always let me see a wonderful story ;) But truely beautiful are the crown shapes on the bottom! Good work! ♥ Conny http://mix-it-monthly.blogspot.de

  14. Like you, I blog because I enjoy the wonderful interaction I have with new-found as well as long-time friends. I also don't sell my art, and don't put mine on the wall. But there is NO way I can create fish using my mouse. I just recently learned how to watermark my pages, and I've owned this VERY old PS software since 2000. You would think something I paid so much for back then would have become a tool I would use, but the tool has truly alluded me. I'm so glad you share your very colorful art so freely, and express yourself so very well. Thanks for being your truly colorful self! I always enjoy visiting.

  16. Well said about art and blogging and such a supportive community that gets it.
Your turquoise flying fish ready for landing with those three legs certainly do put a smile on my face.
Orange is a brilliant pop of color with the aqua too.
The tools you speak of on PS are not in my tool box LOL.
    I salute you Sheila ♥

  30. Your flying fish are just the cutest ever. I have never even though about using my Photoshop to draw a picture using the paintbrush. I feel so ignorant. It looks like such fun. What you ended up with is wonderful. Very creative and a surprise for you in the end. That always makes it all so much more amazing and fun. genie
