THE GIANT AVOCADO BIRD

One of the many joys of using photo-editing is that one can take an older artwork and pull it to pieces to make another quite different artwork, and still have the older artwork intact.

This is a card I made to welcome my sister when she came to visit a few years ago.

I took out the bird and the pink flower.

Next I "borrowed" some trees from the forest in my painting "The trees have a night out"

and added a painted paper I made about fifteen years ago.

What happened then?

It was turned into
"If you go down to the woods today you might see the Giant Avocado Bird",
and was made especially for "Art Journal Journey" where Chris has chosen the theme "If you go down to the woods".

That was tremendous fun.
Hope you enjoyed it too.

  5. Gosh, Sheila, I'm amazed and impressed with your great photo editing. It's a fun post and a great AJJ piece, too. I really enjoyed seeing how you made this, because this is NOT something I could ever make. I'm a true cut and paste person, not digitally cut and paste. I really like how you got your avocado bird.

  7. Your bird looks happy and helthy although he lost two of his for legs by going it's way from a sister-welcome-bird to an avocado bird. I think as giant avocado bird he doesn't need them anymore. And I wonder what this flower - is it an avocado flower? - is telling him because he seems to listen very concentrated.

Especially the background paper with watercolor and chalk (?) has got a brand new face in these colors. But the welcome-card in pink for your sister is so pretty! Weekend Greetings from Ulrike

  17. I am mesmerized!...by the magic within Orange Esmeralda. Of course I expected birdie to be doing something with an avocado rather than being avocado color. LoL. Surprise! I can never anticipate what I will see when it comes to your original artwork. This new piece is so amazing. I love the original pieces too, especially the trees night out. I just really love what you did and how you did it and mostly how it looks. The new colors are so cohesive. How can you even imagine how something like this will turn out?!
