A LITTLE BIRD GOES ON HOLIDAY

Where do we find the inspiration for a new painting?

For me the idea often comes from a combination of a theme and drawings in my sketchbook and colour journals.

This was part of a page in one of my older art journals probably influenced by too many airports still under reconstruction.

The little bird below was a tiny sketch, and I thought he deserved a holiday.   A friend is taking him to the airport.

And here he is on his way.
I think he might be an older bird, he looks a bit tired.

He'll be fine once he is on the plane and his holiday has started.

Don't worry about him, some of his friends are waiting for him at the other end.

Happy holidays, little bird!

  4. Hello Sheila How kind that his friend takes him all the way to the airport, and what a fantastic airport it is, I love glancing into your journeys but love love love the roof of the airport and the plane coming into land.

  5. I guess he is pretty tired. I would have thought having wings he could fly to his destination...or at least to the airport. Maybe he's not the flying kind. I hope he wasn't too far from the airport...that would be quite the walk for his friend. LoL There's my logical brain at work. However, I am viewing magical, whimsical art from Sheila...things don't work logically in Sheila's art. Or maybe it's just too scary up in the skies with those wonderfully looking planes. Little birdie has heard too many horror stories of propellers chewing up birds in flight. This would be a smart traveling decision after all. Wings or not. Love your futuristic airport!

  10. I like your journalpage very much! You don't show often pages from your journal. And I love the little bird and his story! You are right he looks tired and I happy he has a lot of good friends to help him. At first his lovley bit turtel-beetle-snale with her nice purple dots who knows the right way. And I'm very happy about the friends that are waiting for him at the aim of his journey. And I love those 2 lplanes flying around the departure.
Happy holidays from me as well! Where is he going to???
