BABY BIRDS LEAVE THE NEST

This is another piece made by developing an old journal page that was "too good to use".

In our garden we can hardly move for baby birds flitter fluttering excitedly or mummy birds screaming at us to watch out.

Made with watercolours, watercolour pens and washi tape.
The bird nesting box was furnished with magazine snippets.
Mummy bird and her baby birds were painted and then they flew in digitally.

One baby bird seems to have passed its time in the nest building a flying ship.

  1. Cutest ever babies. We have robins nesting at the moment outside our window upstairs and catbirds and their fledgeling flying about all over. Love the newbies and their awkward movements. So sweet. xox

  5. oh! I envy you and all your baby birds!
i have been watching Cinnamon Teals (ducks) wondering if they have a nest in my woods. Almost afraid to walk the un-pathed places so as not to disturb them. I did have a goose family visit a couple times. SO cute! I love your baby birds, you really portrayed the newness and maybe clumsiness they are all about. Adorable piece.

  8. How fun. Those little birds all have such personality. What great expressions. That top one looks panic, like oh what happened to me.

  9. Big smile on my face! All the color is amazing! Like those old fashioned Missle Pops that were yellow on the bottom and red on the top and all the mix of the two colors from one end to the other. And as delicious as they looked. Your bably birdies couldn't be cuter. Their expressions show the newness of flight. The nesting box is so delightful and inviting, the garden looking marvelously in bloom and colorful. So fun how you worked in the washi tapes. Happy Spring/Summer!

  11. The top bird looks so full of trepidation, hardly surprising when you see the orange one's rather awkward ascent. Hope they make it!

  26. So wonderful! I love the wee orange and pink flowers. The whole thing is so colourful. The clever wee chick that made it's own nest should be president of bird world. She can still be in the skies but not get wet or cold, lol.

    and flying ships
What a great story this art piece tells!
Our resident birds are a great source of entertainment too.
A pair of wrens are such a delight building a nest in our wisteria just now... singing up a storm.
Your birds know fine real estate when they spot it.

  40. You have such a talent at expressing things, the way the first wee bird looks terrified, lovely colours and the other near the bottom of the page with splayed legs whilst the mother bird watches on nonchalantly
