VILLAGE BY THE SEA

The theme at "Art Journal Journey" (chosen by me this month) is "The Sea".

When I think of the sea I think of the seaside and of the towns and villages around the coast of the United Kingdom.

I made some little seaside houses

boats

and a fish or two.

I drew and painted sea, sand, a village hill and much more and joined them together like a painted jigsaw puzzle with Photoshop.

If you usually or occasionally join in the "Art Journal Journey" challenges I hope to see you again.    If you haven't joined in so far, why not give it a go.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you make.

  2. Or is it kid's book? You know, now I don't remember. Either way, you have a childlike art that just fits.

  13. I am requesting right now to book a vacation week in each of those delightful houses! But I suppose they are all privately owned. Ok, then I'd like to book a vacation week on each of those boats and swim with those adorable brightly colored fishys. It just looks like the perfect place ro relax and enjoy life. Your water, sand and grassy hill are each impressively painted and blended. It's got to be the best sand in the whole world for flowers to grow in it. Love your birdies! This is magical. No wonder the sun is so happy. And now I'm feeling quite happy too!

  24. What a fun piece this week. I love the boats (perhaps house boats) and the buildings. They all look like castles to me and I don't know which one I would chose. Maybe the pink one with the 2 turrets. How much fun would it be to have a house like that so you could watch the boats and other water things from a high view.

  26. What a lovely scene you're created here, Sheila. Your wee house instantly reminded me of the seaside --- in fact, I thought of one of those old-fashioned bathing tents! Your boat is elegantly designed -- you haven't used a single straight line, they're all curved. And the fish? Well, he's a cute little monster isn't he! The whole lot combines to give a very pleasing picture.

  28. It's great how you are able to use photoshop! It looks phantastic. I still have to learn this. Recently I bought a book but didn't start up to now. How did you learn to use this programme? In a course or by self teaching? I love your funny landscape so much!

You have created a whole world on its own - with loads of whimsical adventure around each corner! The story-telling aspect to your art is just amazing and so enchanting! And the way you tell those stories is so very unique, inspired and inspiring! Thanks for the big big smile this has put on my face!
