SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC

This month "Art Journal Journey" is asking us to make art based on the theme "Signs of the Zodiac".

Each of the twelve signs belongs to one of the categories Water, Air, Earth and Fire.

I came across another interesting challenge site, "Craft a Scene" which is asking us to create a finished scene using our favourite technique.

I drew and painted each element on cartridge and watercolour papers using coloured pencils, watercolour pens, watercolours and oil pastels, then used Photo-editing software to assemble the scene.

  8. First I want to say great grass *wink*. It looks like our lawn. It's a cross between it knows not what season it is right now and desperately needs rain. And I really love the colorful trees! So, I did not know this about the Zodiac signs. Have never paid that much attention to the subject. I am the bull-headed Taurus. I expected to learn what zodiac sign you were. Instead, here is a great overview of the science. Nice work my friend.

  14. Hello Sheila I love the colours and shapes of the trees, but especially like the fish jumping out if the water. I can almost imagine walking there on a sunny day and feeling delightful x

  15. I Sheila, I (once more) love the way you approach the AJJ's monthly theme!
All four elements, but for all there is a positive and a negative side.
The fish in the ocean is natural and the ship is useful for mankind. But it can also be a threat for the fish. (leaking oil and overfishing).
The bird in the sky is what the sky is meant for by nature. Again, the rocket or plane can be seen in a positive and a negative way. Positive for man (and negative too), negative for the birds.
The fire is positive for ... yes....again.... mankind, but it can destroy the woods. Look, it's really close.

I love how you incorporated all in one piece of art. Maybe I read something into you work which wasn't palnned by you but these were my thoughts when I looked at this photo.
