WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES ANOTHER ONE SHUTS

There are two monthly challenges I very much like:

"Art Journal Journey" whose theme this month is "Doors"
and
"Mix it Monthly" whose theme this month is a combination of "Children", three given colours - blue, pale pink and green - and "graphic pattern".

Purely by serendipity, this picture fits both themes.  I started by making it for "Mix it Monthly" but then doors appeared.

I quite like this version of the well-known saying, it can give a feeling of security.

WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES ANOTHER ONE SHUTS

You've seen Little Girl before, here, but she wanted to be in this picture too.

  1. I LOVE your quote version! I know it so well. This is an awesome piece! Like a maze of doors or the house of mirrors that I've been in. Surely a door or few here will open while so many shut. Wonderful dark and bright color contrast. I always wonder what I'll find in your posts when I open them, and nothing is ever as expected. I love that!

  4. My favourite one yet! The colours are so wintery with the turquoise and deep blue, and the design is so jaggy, you feel you feel you are looking through lots of doors to different places! I love Little Girl, and the guy in the perple jacket, and the rabbits and the three green flowers, and all the little patterns everywhere! Wonderful! Hugs and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  6. Love this art! So whimsical and colourful. I know the quote as when one door closes another opens (which seems to happen to me, it's great), but you have a maze here and have changed it intentionally I think. The characters are fun. I received your message about the tree challenge, but it does mention it should have orange, mine does not. Have a wonderful Sunday, Shirleyx

  7. You have used a very ingenious way to incorporate all the elements needed for the challenges, and having done so created an impressive piece of art. It is hard to keep my eyes still, they keep wandering around looking at all the detail and being intrigued by the blue and green shapes, they remind me of ship's sails.

  16. An awesome and interesting picture. There is so much to explore, and a reunion with the little girl - great. I like the contrast of colors. Bottom right of the picture, I see a little dwarf with a blue hat. Do you recognize him? The is certainly come about by chance.
