YOUTH, BEAUTY, AN ALIEN AND FLUFFIE

There are two monthly challenges I always like to participate in
"Mix it Monthly"  and "Art Journal Journey"  .
This month I have made one piece which is suitable for both.

Art Journal Journey is asking for "She-art".

As little girl is wearing an orange dress she has asked if she can join in this week's "Mandarin Orange Monday" challenge.

Mix it Monthly asks that your art includes "A crowd of three or more people", three colours - royal blue, orange and yellow - and also asks that you use some texture in your artwork.

First the texture.

I painted a magazine article, cut it into strips and glued the strips back in a random order.

The very optimistic idea was to somehow blur this, lighten it and it would magically become a background of pretty fields.
Didn't work, no matter what I did.

So let's just say that after Some Time, I painted a sheet with watercolours and gave it a going-over in photo-edit to use as the background.
That's the texture.

Next the crowd.

Our friendly alien has been shopping.  Don't you wish you had four arms for shopping and getting on the bus afterwards?

And here is "The crowd", waiting at the bus stop, after a day's shopping.

  3. I went back to the alien - which seems to become a fried of mine (I like him so much) - and I saw now that 2 of his 4 arms are free. .. Ok, thats's great: To have 2 arms to carry and still 2 arms left to do all what have to be done to come home :)

  10. Sheila the artist with no gesso? I don't know a thing about gesso, but it seems a whole lots of people paint it on EVERYTHING. To lighten, to cover, to blurr, to background, and on and on. But, you problem solving is always an interesting lesson. Love this crowd of delightful fun!

  25. I love the three trees, three birds and the three characters and fluffie! I love fluffie. The details to me are what pulls this piece together so well. You excel in pulling together fun, whimsical and highly individualised characters with their surroundings. The whole piece is perfect and your ability to think out of the box is amazing.....you continue to amaze with your imaginative works of art

Thank you for stopping by my blog again!

I SO love your work. It truly is amazing.

I can picture a children's book about all the adventures your alien family goes on!

I believe this would be a very popular children's book to say the least!

    I would buy a copy!!

    Have a Beautiful day!

  33. Most of all I love your sense of humour, and the way you create such intriguing artwork that always makes me smile. Your little girl with the orange dress and 'way-out' hairstyle is sweet, and the idea of the alien going shopping with four arms is delightful. Thanks for the smile, which will stay with me all day - it's just what I needed!
(The email address that shows below the comment box is giving great problems, so I now use the one that I used when I emailed a reply to your comment on my blog.)
