MONSTER DAHLIAS

This is the time of year when the garden, the flowers and especially the vegetables, are calling at their loudest.

Get me in the ground!
I need repotting!
I'm freezing, put me in the greenhouse!
I'm too hot, put me outside!
Protect me from snails! pigeons! foxes!
Tie me up!

And so on, and so forth.

There is not so much time for art.

Lavinia has come to stay again (you saw her on a previous visit here).
She is very interested in flowers and wanted to show you this one.
Her neck purse was made by Mr. Esmeralda.

But sometimes it rains, and there is time for art.

Made with watercolours, fluid acrylics, collage and a little photo-editing.

Linking to the "Take a Word" challenge, theme "Botanical".
I am also linking to the "Art Journal Journey" challenge whose theme this month is "Home", as in the month of June, my home is the garden and the garden is my home.

  1. How sweet Lavinia looks loitering amongst your pretty flowers. Her little beaded purse is adorable. I love the colors in your Monster Dahlias. I love the transparency of watercolors and the transparency of your collaging too just blends everything as a whole so nicely. Well done my friend!

  12. I am impressed with Lavinia's ability to wield a brush considering her (ahem) her lack of fingers. A lovely piece, Sheila. Love the colours you have chosen. They really "zing".

  33. Ah, Sheila, people are saying all those nice things about your handiwork (all deserved, too) but what they don't know is that your obsession with your art is making you oblivious to the impending doom facing your lovely garden. A drought is forecast. Your many container plants will curl up and die, your tomatoes will shrivel on the vine and your kale will be kaput. Shame on Lavinia for wearing such a cruel smirk.

    Have a nice day ---
